When the World Government executed notorious pirate Gol D. Roger, he announced that he’d hidden all his treasure in one place and whoever finds it gets to keep it all. This saw the beginning of the Great Pirate Era and, like most others, you would probably love to make that treasure your own.
To do that, you’re going to need a crew. This blog tag is based on my experience watching One Piece, although you don’t need to have seen One Piece to join in. You will need to assemble a crew of fictional characters, selecting the best character for the positions.
What is a blog tag?
First things first. Blog tags are a device built into the blogging community in which a blogger will create a scenario or set of questions for other bloggers to answer. They then nominate other bloggers and the tag spreads. It’s a great way to get involved with the community and send traffic to your favourite bloggers’ sites.
So, back on January 21, 2019, I created the My Pirate Crew Blog Tag and sent it sailing into the horizon. I never really expected many to complete it, let alone receive a nomination for it myself, but I did. Crazy, right? Anyhow, when I did a big URL switch it was hidden from the world. Well, it’s time to bring it back, especially as I have just released a new updated version of My Pirate Crew on my anime blogging URL – OtakuAuthor.com.
Pirates aren’t known for rules, but blog tags are… so, here they are:
- Display the My Pirate Crew logo and add ‘My Pirate Crew’ as a tag on your post.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link back to their blog.
- Link back to the original post here (so I can compare your crews to mine).
- Select fictional characters for your pirate crew, giving each one a position. These are the positions to fill.
- Nominate 5-10 bloggers.
- Set sail and rule the seas!
I originally completed my crew based on anime characters as it was released on my anime blog, but you could select characters from any work of fiction in any medium. Anyhow, this was my crew!
Warrior: Saitama (One Punch Man)
This one kind of goes without saying, but anyone that can defeat all opponents with a single punch would make a fine addition to the crew. Saitama is also a pretty humble guy who would fit in well with the others and doesn’t seem to mind remaining in the background.
Sure, he’d love the accolades and as part of my crew he’d get them, but he will also do what’s best for everyone.
Sniper: Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann)
For me, Yoko was the star of Gurren Lagann and is more than welcome on board my ship. She’s an ace shot and isn’t fazed by dangerous situations. If anything she thrives on them and quickly assesses the situation before charging headfirst into danger.
Well, Yoko, there will be plenty of danger where we going. I can’t wait to see you cut loose.
Chef: Ban (The Seven Deadly Sins)
The food at the Boar’s Hat Tavern was basically pigswill until Ban took over as the Chef for Meliodas. After that people came in for more than just booze, and not just to ogle the waitresses. On top of that Ban is also immortal, so that’s not a bad backup skill to have.
Welcome aboard Ban, make yourself at home and yes, I’d love a cup of tea.
Navigator: Camilla (Castlevania)
Camilla is going to fill the role of the navigator because she quite clearly knows her way around. Having wound Dracula and his generals around her little finger, she tricked them into moving their castle into an ambush. She’s always a couple of steps ahead of the game.
I’m not going to lie, the idea of having a vampire on the ship is both exciting and terrifying, but I can’t wait to see where she takes us.
Doctor: Rimuru Tempest (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)
Rimuru would be an immense addition to my crew. Not only can he heal anyone from pretty much anything, but he also knows magic, can change form and copy stuff, and he’s an adorable slime. Plus with the Great Sage in his head, he can answer almost any questions we have.
I think I’m the most excited for Rimuru to join us. With him on the crew, we’ll be unstoppable.
Mechanic: Mei Hatsume (My Hero Academia)
When it comes to machines, Mei Hatsume is an absolute genius. She’s an inventor that can turn her ideas into reality at an incredible rate. If I let her get a hold of the ship it’ll be the envy of the New World. She also has enhanced eyesight, enabling her to zoom in and lock onto items at great distances.
Now, that’s going to come in handy in the crow’s nest. This crew is starting to shape up nicely.
Entertainer: Yugiri (Zombie Land Saga)
And Yugiri completes the crew. She can sing, dance, and play music. Originally a courtesan, Yugiri can keep the crew spirits up and she’s also not afraid to hand out advice where needed. Not to mention that she’ll slap the silly out of you if you give her the opportunity.
On top of that, she’s a zombie. So, I now have a zombie and a vampire on the crew. Seriously, I am going to be King of the Pirates for sure.
And there you have it, my pirate crew! I think we’re pretty much unstoppable with several god-level overpowered characters onboard, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun.
As I stated earlier, this is a post that I originally released back at the beginning of 2019 and since I’ve had to recreate it, I’ve lost all the linkbacks. So, here is a list of some of the bloggers that I could find that had completed it to date. Also, if you’re reading this and haven’t had a go, well, what are you waiting for? The seas are calling!
